Tracking Your Cycle

Updated: Nov 14, 2022

“Yes, we get it, cycle synching is great but…how do you do it??”

OKOK, sorry for going on and on about the benefits, we’re just so passionate about it! Let’s get to the nitty gritty - how do you cycle sync?

First of all, you’re going to have to get up real close and personal with your cycle and start tracking it in detail for the first few months. What does that look like?

First things first: Day 1 of your cycle is the first day of your bleed, you number the days from one to the end, until the first day of your period comes again, then repeat!

Here’s three ways to track your cycle:

  1. Use a tracking App: our personal fav (that doesn't sell your data) is “Read your Body” - a non-profit organisation that is founded and run by women (yes, it's more rare than you’d think). However, there are tons of tracking apps out there, with tons of differences and categories to choose from! Cons: Apps usually can’t give you a lot of depth in terms of the range of symptoms to choose from, sometimes what you feel won’t fall into a pre-written category!

  1. Get out the trusty Notes App: every night while you’re doing your skincare routine, or brushing your teeth, write a couple of key words or sentences on how you’ve felt that day: make sure to include at least one adjective each on how you’ve felt emotionally and physically.

  1. Have a Period Journal: this is our absolute fav, but we understand that it’s not for everyone. With this method, you deeply reflect on what you’ve felt throughout the day, it is basically like journaling but where you specifically jot down your needs during the day. Here, you can ask yourself in-depth questions like “have I felt more anxious than usual today” or “How deeply did I feel the need for more support today?” or “What would’ve made my day better today - more alone time or more socialising?”, "How did I feel about myself and my abilities today". After a while, you will see that your moods, emotions and needs follow a pattern, magical right?

I can tell you now bestie, you will feel so much more at home in your body once you know that you are definitely not crazy, not irrationally moody and certainly not impossibly unpredictable!

“Is there a way to cycle sync without tracking your cycle?” Hmmm, not reaaaally, no… so you should start TONIGHT!
